Treat 8U as a layout limit, not a complete equipment specification

List every rack-mounted device in top-to-bottom order with its exact model, quantity, occupied rack units, chassis depth, measured weight and mounting-point details. The buyer should confirm whether blank panels, patch panels, power distribution, shelves, drawers or future reserve space are included in the eight-unit plan. Faceplate height alone is insufficient: protruding controls, rear housings and non-rack accessories can determine the usable envelope.

Provide the total installed weight and the weight of each device, plus photographs of the loaded orientation. Mark equipment that cannot support contact and any unit requiring separate support. Published dimensions may be included as reference, but the drawing input should identify values checked on the actual hardware and leave every unresolved U position, depth or weight as a buyer-confirmation item.

Build front and rear clearance around the real cable set

For every front and rear port used, record connector body length, strain relief and the cable bend radius required by the selected cable. State which leads remain connected during transport, which are removed, and where service loops or patch tails are stored. The rail setback and lid depth must be reviewed against plugs, switches and front controls in both packed and operating conditions rather than derived from chassis depth alone.

Specify the preferred front-to-rear rail arrangement, but leave rail selection, support details and any isolation scheme to engineering after the equipment weights, distribution and transport conditions are known. Map routine service tasks such as reaching power switches, replacing a cable, removing one unit, viewing indicators and accessing fasteners. Confirm whether maintenance occurs while the rack is in the case and what safe shutdown or disconnection sequence applies. Service clearance, removable panels and cable management should be shown on the drawing and checked with the buyer’s maintenance team.

Review loaded balance, route and the meaning of “shockproof”

Calculate the loaded centre of gravity from the confirmed equipment positions, then review the proposed handle and caster locations with engineering. Survey door widths, lift sizes, turns, thresholds, ramps, loading equipment and vehicle openings, and confirm the crew and orientation used for each move. Total loaded mass, route limits and handling sequence are buyer inputs; an 8U label alone says nothing about safe portability.
